The Chinese have authorized the import of a new strain of genetically modified soybeans from a US company.

Some commentators believe that the use of this new strain of soybeans could be a positive signal in boosting negotiations between the two countries.
According to experts, the soy is resistant to some types of pests.
China and the United States are trying to sign the first phase of trade agreements.
A matter that prompted the Chinese deputy prime minister travel to Washington on January 4.
Earlier in 2013 the Chinese refused to allow some of the genetically modified plant species to be imported by the United States, and some varieties were allowed to enter the country during a five-year process.
The Chinese are currently the world's largest soybean importer.
