The United States stopped importing chicken meat from Bulgaria.

A few hours ago, the Animal Health and Plant Inspection Service of the Ministry of Agriculture, known as APHIS, announced that it had banned Bulgaria from registering areas where poultry imports were prohibited because of the incidence of U.S. avian influenza.

The announcement states that Bulgaria has been added to the list of areas under the temporary restriction that affected by the HPAI.

It should be noted that for the first time in October 2017, Bulgaria was involved with the disease and reported its contaminated areas to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). The issue has led to a decline in exports of poultry products to many parts of the world, including the United States.
