South Korea will audit production centers in the Philippines after resuming imports of poultry and various poultry products from the Philippines to the country.

The decision came after a delegation from the Korean Agriculture Ministry and other government officials visited the Philippines.

Commentators believe that these measures will pave the way for the Philippines to gain access to the market for duck meat and eggs. Philippine officials also hope that these measures and audits will result in increased exports to South Korea.

South Korea has imported more than 140,000 tonnes of poultry meat in 2018 and is expected to increase to 145,000 tonnes this year as demand continues to rise.
