Nigerian chicken meat and egg producers have urged the government to consider raising the price of chicken and poultry feed.

The protests have come under conditions that one-day-old chicken producers believe new prices will offset their losses over the past three years and make possible to re-invest strategically in the sector.
Experts believe that services such as hatchery and one-day-old chicken production in Nigeria require frequent injections of cash flow and this is the only way to end the dominance of foreign investment in the sector.
poultry and egg producers believe that the increase in prices could affect the final price of products in the country and given the drop in smuggling.
However, end consumers cannot afford high prices for such products and hence farmers profit margins will decrease.
One-day-old chickens and feed are the most important costs of chicken meat and egg production in the country.
