Following the outbreak of the H5N8 HPAI, the German Ministry of Agriculture has called on all poultry producers to keep their poultry in closed and restricted farms.

At a news conference Agriculture Minister announced this action to ensure that the poultry is not directly contacting those wild birds that are likely to be infected with the virus.

This decision seems to have been made by the outbreak of bird flu across the border and the Ministry of Agriculture will review the above conditions in the next four weeks. On February 10, the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture officially reported an outbreak of the H5N8 virus in parts of the country to OIE.

The Philippine Ministry of Agriculture has temporarily suspended imports of all poultry products from Germany following the outbreak of the flu virus in the country.
